Last stop…Valencia 9/10-9/13
September 14, 2009 on 3:14 pm | In WHERE IN THE WORLD IS KIMMIE? | No CommentsI ended the last leg of my trip in Valencia. I wanted to visit 3 major cities in Spain to get a good grasp of the culture and the country. Valencia, unlike Barcelona and Madrid, has more of a smaller city chill vibe. It was a nice way to end my trip, especially since I partied and lived it up in Paris
.
Check out Valencia….

Old world architecture…

I was getting tired of tapas and paella after 2wks of being on the road. Awww….french fries!

This is their old town, where most of the tourists hang out at.

Cathedral Metropolitana up close!

Inside Cathedral Metropolitana…

So many nice cathedrals in Spain. I’m always impressed by how they maintain them in such great condition.

They just got their baby baptized in the cathedral. I LOVE this picture!

Close up view of the design of the cathedral…

Too lazy to walk! Time for a tour of Valencia =).

Oceanographic aquarium….

LOVE the modern design.

You have to wander in the small streets and alleys while visiting Valencia. They have cute little shops and cafes!

Some beautiful inspiration!

Gelato time! Yummmmmmy!

What diet? LOL…

Oh my….someone actually named their store GHETTO!

The neighborhood….

Dinner time! Lobster paella….yum…yum….yum!

I discovered this cool stained glass ceiling at my hotel. Great inspiration piece for a print!

I LOVE how the buildings look at night…so much more character to it.

That’s a wrap of Valencia! I’m soooo tired! Time to jet back to NYC. I missss NYC and YUMI!

I had a connection in Madrid. Wow, I feel like I’m in a spaceship.

Almost in NYC! So beautiful outside my window. Is this what heaven looks like? I feel at peace looking at this.

That sums up my 2 weeks in Spain and Paris! I can’t believe how fast it went by.
I’m truly blessed to be able to have the opportunity to travel and see the world. Running off to be by myself was the best decision I had made in a long time. The past two weeks away allowed me to stop, relax, take a deep breath and enjoy life a bit.
I’m back now, feeling revived….recharged and ready for next few weeks of chaos preparing & previewing my Spring 2010 collection at Coterie trade show in NY and in LA at Market Week! When you’re feeling POSITIVE, you give off POSITIVE energy, which in returns attract POSITIVE things
There’s no place like PARIS! 9/7-9/10
September 14, 2009 on 3:12 pm | In WHERE IN THE WORLD IS KIMMIE? | No CommentsI’m grateful each and everyday for being blessed to have a job that allows me to have a flexible schedule to travel(my other passion).
I´ve traveled to many countries, but there really are less than a handful of places I LOVE to come back and visit time and time again. Paris happens to be one of those cities. Everytime I visit this place, I find myself dreading the day that I have to leave.
There´s something about this city that brings out this creative side in me, and I´m sure in everyone else. I´ve made some of my best prints and styles while traveling here. I have always felt the most creative being here.
Paris, my home away from home.

I LOVE the architecture here. Most of the buildings are Old World in this city.

My first time here during the fall and loving it!

Every fashionista must stop in Paris-Colette!

I seriously could sit here all day.

My favorite foods to eat while I´m here-onion soup & beef carpaccio!

Next stop, Galeries of Lafayette. Oh my, it was a packed house on a Tuesday afternoon! What recession here? NO sale…everything was at full price!

LOVE the beautiful details to the ceilings. Looks like an opera house.

Inside Galaries of Lafayette is an art gallery. This season they´re showcasing artwork from David Lynch.

It´s pretty cool how they incorporated a gallery inside the department store.

Cool entrance back out to shop from the gallery.

I would love to live here one day….or just run away and live here for a full month!

How cool is this? Is it a car? Motor bike? What do they call this?

I love checking out all the cool windows here.

Oh my, can´t go to Paris and not stop at Laduree. Yummmy!

So many options! It´s always a packed place and a long line!

They have the BEST packaging ever! Not only does it looks great…it tastes great! YUM!

I LOOOOOVE the food in Paris. I could eat here for days!

Look how yummy this looks!

Last night in Paris, I partied in Champs Elysee. Such a amazzzzing time! I LOVE partying here! The people are so carefree and everyone is so not pretentious at the VIP hot spots!

One person I´m going to miss the most in Paris is Scotty! My friend just got him recently and he has the same personality as YUMI, which made me home sick
. He´s so crazy and adorable! If you´re out clubbing at Milliondaire or Madam in Paris, don´t be surprised he´s gonna be hanging in the VIP room
.

I was bummed to leave and mad at myself for booking my stay only 2 days! Urghhh! I guess that says something when you don´t want to leave….it means you´re going to be coming back again and again. Paris, I miss you already
. Sniff….sniff…sniff….
BARCELONA: 9/4-9/7
September 12, 2009 on 1:10 pm | In WHERE IN THE WORLD IS KIMMIE? | Comments OffAfter all these years, I finally made it to Barcelona. I´ve had many opportunities to go, but it never worked out due to scheduling conflicts or something came up last minute where I had to cancel. I guess, as I always say-it just wasn´t meant to be or wasn’t my time to go.
I stopped over in Barcelona for a few days after Madrid to meet up with my friend Calvin. I figured why not, since it´s always a crazy fab time with him!
Barcelona reminds me so much of Paris, but without the romantic and artsy vibe. Oh, and one more thing…it´s missing the tons of people smoking outside at the cafes!Thank goodness!
Our first lunch, paella by the beach at Con Majo! Yes, this was the BEST paella I had the entire trip. Amaaaazing and HUGE!
So awesome that Barcelona also has a beach! It’s like the best of both worlds-city & beach life!
In Barcelona it´s all about GAUDI…GAUDI…and GAUDI. Check out Casa Mila- crazy building…interesting, right?
Love the details of their sidewalks!
Always wanted to own one of these motor bikes and ride around in the city. I’m Asian, yup…we’re known to be bad drivers…ha..maybe I should pass! LOL
Smokers are in heaven here. Vending machines to buy your cigarettes. Talk about easy access!
Awww, ME & Calvin living their lifestyle. When in Rome do as the Romans do, right? All about sitting at cafes enjoying wine and tapas!
My favorite foods I could never get enough of….peppers and olives-YUM!
LOVE the details of their buildings!
Beautiful tile walls inside the building!
Casa Batlló by GAUDI. Yes,GAUDI again. They should just call this city GAUDCELONA!
All about details…details…details!
LOVE this wall mixed of different tiles!
Oh my…this is a HUGE church,Temple of the Sagrada Familia. Guess who built this? Who else? GAUDI!
Barcelona had an interesting mix of old and new architecture.
Best part about my trip is the tapas at Cervezas Internaciones. My favorite place to eat! Look how happy we look! We are foodies!
Everything was so yummy & so cheap! The ultimate combo! You must eat here if you’re ever in Barcelona!Trust me!I went 2x!
Oh my….I am a seafood lover-crab & shrimp tapas!
I had such a FABULOUS time in Barcelona…all due to GREAT food and GREAT company! Thanks, Calvin, for letting me crash with you! It was such a crazy 3 days with you! I will seriously remember this for the rest of my life…oh my..so crazy and FUN! I´m glad I found a new travel buddy!
Next stop…PARIS-my home away from home!
MADRID: 9/2 & 9/3
September 12, 2009 on 12:08 pm | In WHERE IN THE WORLD IS KIMMIE? | No CommentsThe travel bug bit me recently and I knew it was a big hint that it was time for me to get away and get in some ME time. Work was getting crazy and I was starting to feel the pressure with deadlines of getting Spring 2010 samples here on time and ready for the trade shows. I was feeling really stressed out! I needed to get away for a bit to gather my thoughts, finalize a few creative projects with no interruptions, and feel inspired again.
I like to leave NYC once in awhile and go somewhere foreign to work. Besides the fact that I LOVE to travel, it really feels like I´m taking a mini break from my real life. It also gives me time to do some soul searching and spend time to myself, something most of us never have the time to do. Sometimes we get so busy, we tend to forget to just stop and enjoy life a bit. Instead of continuing to talk about going to Spain one day, I decided to just do it! I booked my tickets last minute, and ran off to Spain and Paris for a few 2weeks by myself! Yes, I know I’m a bit crazy, but you live once, and I’m only going to be 30 once. I might as well live life to it’s fullest and go see the world =)!
First stop, Madrid! Whenever I travel, I ALWAYS check out the shopping. Not because I love to shop, it’s really to check out the fashion. I love seeing the styles and trends of what`s hot in the city I’m visiting.
Here I am checking out their shopping district. It’s all about the mega stores here- ZARA, H&M, and Sfera (similar to the other two)!
The Spaniards sure LOVE meat! Sucks cuz I’m not a pork person. Waa waa waa waaaaaaa
Everyone eats here so late! This is the scene at 11:30pm in Santa Ana square!
I checked out The Penthouse lounge…very hotttt and sexy!Rated one of the best rooftop bars in the world!
Day #2-Tourist Day! Here I am at their royal palace!
I was too lazy to do a walking tour, so I decided to try something new-Segway tours! How cool is this?

Best thing I did on my trip! Now I want to try this everywhere I’m traveling!

Lots of graffiti in different parts of the city.
We stopped to check out the Egyptian Temple- The Temple of Debod.
Lunch break with the crew. It was cool sitting down having lunch and chatting it up w/strangers from different parts of the world. I met some really cool people from London & Texas!
I love how the city looks and all the outdoor cafes!
Cool gates….check out all the details of the people!
When in Madrid, you have to visit at least one cathedral. So beautiful!
Check out the ceiling! Feeling so inspired….the beautiful colors!
The center ceiling….GORGEOUS!
Check out the back drop. Can’t believe everything was painted so long ago…crazy!
Madrid is such a beautiful and CLEAN city!
Thank goodness I decided to do this tour! I saw all the major tourist spots in 3 1/2hrs and I didn´t have to do a lot of walking!:) Me and my tour group! So much FUN!!!
The rest of the day I spent time visiting the museums. I checked out the Matisse exhibit at the Thyssen museum. I LOVE his work form the 1920s-30s, not so much of the dancing figures (what he’s famous for).
Gotta visit the Prado if you’re in Madrid!
Dinner time… Awwww….the food. So yummmy!
Look how beautiful the buildings are at night!
There you have it…my 2days in Madrid! I had a amazing time and definitely would like to come back and visit one day. I find the city to be very charming with an artsy vibe. If you´re in Spain, definitely stop by for a few days and hang.
Next stop-BARCELONA!
